Mental health tip of the week:

Do something for someone else.

Research shows that being helpful to others has a beneficial effect on how you feel about yourself. Being helpful and kind—add value for what you do—is a great way to build self-esteem too. The meaning you find in helping others will enrich and expand your life and may also create a connection to the community you live in, which is priceless.

The something that you do does not have to a big thing, it could be shoveling a driveway for someone if you are dealing with snow in your area, it could mean bringing in someone groceries, holding the elevator for someone, or you can go bigger and volunteer at an organization that has a special meaning to you or loved ones.

Volunteering in an organization that has a special meaning can also be something that the children get involved with so that you can teach them there is value in doing kind things for others with not having an expectation of anything in return. You can also meet like minded individuals that you can develop friendships with if you are struggling to meet others like you.😊
